The Coffin Works Streamlines Ticketing Solutions with Merac

Andy Povey |

The Coffin Works, home of the Newman Brothers Museum, has upgraded its ticketing operations to Merac to streamline its online visitor journey and meet growing demand for its factory tours and attraction experiences.

Operating since 2014, the award-winning museum offers a unique insight into coffin furniture manufacturing from 1894 to 1999, and welcomes around 10,000 visitors annually. The museum showcases original stock, tools and working machinery, allowing visitors to truly experience how the factory would have operated day- to-day, producing some of the world’s finest coffin furniture, including the fittings in the funerals of Winston Churchill and Princess Diana.

With the government-funded Arts Tickets programme coming to an end, the operations team needed to transition to a long-term, fully integrated attractions management and ecommerce solution. Following the recent new ownership of Merac by industry veteran Andy Povey, The Coffin Works chose to return to the platform to support its next phase of growth.

Following the acquisition, Merac has undergone significant development, with a renewed focus on customer support and product innovation. Andy Povey has introduced a strengthened support structure for customers and accelerated the evolution of the platform into a fully connected, guest-centric commerce ecosystem. New modules and enhanced ecommerce capabilities now enable attractions to unify ticketing, operational data, food and beverage sales, memberships and Gift Aid within a single system. This joined-up approach gives venues like The Coffin Works a clearer view of performance across their entire operation, while ensuring a seamless experience for visitors both online and onsite.
The switch to the Merac platform has enabled the museum to provide a simple and effective booking system which has enhanced overall  visitor satisfaction.

Claire McGibbon, Volunteer & Operations Coordinator, The Coffin Works comments:
“Moving to Merac has completely streamlined our ticketing and reporting processes. As a small, independent museum, it was important for us to find a system that felt intuitive, flexible and tailored to our needs, not something overly complex or corporate. The support from the Merac team has been exceptional, they’re responsive, proactive and genuinely invested in helping us succeed. It feels like a partnership, not just a provider relationship, and that’s made all the difference.”

Andy Povey, CEO, Merac comments:“Partnering with The Coffin Works is a perfect example of how our platform can transform day-to-day operations for smaller, independent attractions. By streamlining daily operations we’re helping staff work more efficiently while also enhancing the visitor experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to see technology make such a practical, tangible difference.”
