Why are there discrepancies between my booking reports and transaction reports
Q) - Why is there discrepancies between my booking reports and transaction reports ETC?
A) - Different reports pick up information differently, for example the booking reports will not pick up walk-in transactions that have happened on the same day.
Potential response
Seeing that you are comparing the Deposits Held report with the Transaction Audit & Daily Transaction Analysis by Nominal Code reports, my first advice is that we recommend that booking reports should not be compared with transaction reports. This is only due to the way the system has been designed.
Booking reports looking at booking data and transaction reports look at transactional data. There are many reasons why there will be discrepancies with these two forms of data. Just to name a few:
- Bookings only account for online and in-house bookings that have been created, transaction data will pick up all transactional data.
- Bookings can be set back from being completed to booked, where it can be complete another time. This would cause multiple transactions for one booking.
- Bookings will not account for walk-up transactions made onto bookable events, where transactions will.
- Additional items can be added to the till basket when completing bookings at a till.
The above cases may or may not be the case for yourselves. So, it will be difficult to comment on how the system has been used to calculate these figures over a long period.
Therefore, I am happy to go through an example of one day that doesn't marry up, where I can give you the reasons, and perhaps go from there.
